These four walls are not my home

We are CEdar and pine

Cedar and Pine is an indie/alternative rock two-piece from London, Ontario. With Mr. Derek's catchy melodies and honest lyrics all bound together with the chaotic musicianship of Mr. Tyse's 'one man rhythm section', they push the limits of what two people can do. Formed in 2015 after Derek and Tyse took on the challenge of creating a full-band sound with minimal members.

Due to the innovative way they arrange their songs; with a drummer that plays keys and drums simultaneously, along side the tried and tested guitarist/vocalist combo, they provide a truly unique live performance.

The band is definitely one of a kind, come see it for yourself! Cedar and Pine ha recently independently released their debut album, ‘These Four Walls Are Not My Home’ available for purchase on Bandcamp, iTunes, and also available for streaming on Spotify!

Songs exploring themes of self actualization, love and loss. Indie-rock with some character, a dash of alternative, and a sprinkle of emo.

And yes, Tyse did record the drums one handed during the parts where he plays one handed live, which is most of the time throughout the album.

I hope you enjoy our debut full-length album. Please be in touch, we have more to come in the very near future!
Thanks for listening and much thanks to all those who have supported us over the years. It's going to be a very exciting future, and I hope we get to continue to share our music with you every step of the way.

PRESS

"The duo's stated goal was to 'create a full-band sound with minimal live members' and on their debut four-track EP, Victoria in July, they've largely succeeded. These lads would not be able to achieve their goal if not for the fact that both of them are very proficient on their chosen instruments. All four original tracks have a solid, indie rock/alternative feel, highlighted by strong vocals and a clear understanding of dynamics."

- John Sharpe, Scene Magazine

“…Victoria in July, sounds like something from a far more established band.

Their style sounds like a modern day mash-up of Great Big Sea and Weakerthans, and they balance folk and indie quite well with a minimal setup.

For a self-produced EP, Victoria in July is very well mixed and put together. Lyrically, Cedar and Pine manage to explore common indie themes of love, loss and self-realization without being sappy or cliche.

It’s a good listen. The duo has a great sense of dynamics, building a song up or breaking it right down to suit the mood. The track Pocket flows from a simple drum/guitar opening to broken down keys and vocals before swelling up to a power-chord chorus and outro.

While Victoria in July only contains four songs, it still gives the feeling of a well-rounded release.”
